OR World is handmade in the USA by a mom and her daughter — a designer seamstress and a surgical tech — who turned their whole house into a joyful sewing operation, and now make surgical hats worn in operating rooms across the country.

How it all started
It began with one uncomfortable hat
In 2014, Sara came home from a surgery shift with an idea. Her scrub cap was hot, her hair kept slipping out, and she just knew it could be so much better. So she turned to her mom, Nancy, a lifelong seamstress: "Could we make one that actually fits — and feels like me?"
The house turned into a little fabric shop — thread and color everywhere 🌈 — until, together, they'd sewn a snug, comfy cap that finally held all of Sara's hair. Then her coworkers started asking, "Where did you get that? Can your mom make me one?" And just like that, OR World was born. 💛
Why it matters to us
A little color changes the whole day
To keep ourselves and our patients safe in surgery, we all wear the same thing — same scrubs, same mask, same cap, head to toe. Your scrub cap ends up being just about the only way to show a little of who you really are.

Mom fell in love with sewing at nine, hand-stitching doll clothes on her mother's machine. Six decades later she's made everything from bridesmaid dresses to quilts to German folk dresses — and pours that lifetime of craft into every single OR World cap, made by hand with love. 🧵

Sara
Sara grew up tagging along to her mom's craft shows, so making things has always been in her blood. She's spent 12+ years as a surgical technologist — wearing a cap every shift herself. When the ones she had never fit right, she asked her mom to make her a better one. Coworkers noticed, then their coworkers did, and what began as one hat for Sara grew into a family business worn across the nation. 💜
From our kitchen table to yours
What started as one hat for Sara grew into a family business that now makes custom photo caps, personalized surgical hats, and bulk logo orders for healthcare teams across the country. When PPE was needed most during COVID-19, we showed up — and we'll keep showing up, one handmade cap at a time.
Every cap is still made by hand, by us, with love. That's a promise. 💜
